Game of Thrones Empty Game of Thrones

Has anyone heard of a fantasy writer called George R R Martin? He's partway through writing the "Song of Ice and Fire" series, which he's been at for well over ten years now (probably close to fifteen, in fact). He was good friends with Robert Jordan, author of the Wheel of Time series, and is slated to be finishing those books for the now-deceased Jordan.

Anyway, Game of Thrones was the first in the "Song of Ice and Fire" series. It's gritty, grim fantasy, with all the classic hallmarks of high tragedy. HBO are adapting A Game of Thrones into a series, ready for 2011. It stars Sean Bean, among others, as Eddard Stark, head of one of the main Houses.
